ONLINE DONATIONS
I made a gift online. How will I receive my tax receipt?
Thank you for your generous support of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation (UOHIF)! If you donated online, your tax receipt will be sent to the email address you provided when you donated, usually within 1-2 business days.
Please check your junk or spam folder in your email and add foundation@ottawaheart.ca to your “safe senders” list.
If you still haven’t received it after 1-2 business days, please contact us by phone at (613) 696-7030 or by email at onlinegiving@ottawaheart.ca . You can also complete the Contact Us Form below and we will respond within 1 to 2 business days.

I am having trouble donating online. Who do I contact for help?
We apologize for any issues you might face while using our online donation forms. If you need to report an error, please contact our digital programs team at onlinegiving@ottawaheart.ca.
If you have trouble with your charitable gift and would rather donate over the phone, our friendly staff can help you.
Just call us at (613) 696-7030.
If you call outside our business hours (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.), please leave a voicemail with your name and number, and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
Can I make a gift online on behalf of someone else using my credit card?
The UOHIF follows Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) rules for issuing tax receipts, requiring specific donor information.
Usually, the tax receipt goes to the billing address used for the donation.
If you think there is an error on your tax receipt or you want to make changes, please let us know at (613) 696-7030 or onlinegiving@ottawaheart.ca. You can also complete the Contact Us Form below and we will respond within 1 to 2 business days.
We can update records for you or your loved one. Our regular business hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Why is my phone number required while making an online gift?
Your phone number helps us to quickly match your gift to your record in our system.
If we cannot find a record using your information, we will create a new one. This is one way we prevent you from receiving duplicate mailings.
WAYS WE COMMUNICATE
PLEASE NOTE: The Foundation does not directly solicit (cold call) or ask for donations by phone. We also do not send mass texts via mobile phone.
Foundation staff members sometimes call back donors to say thank you, or to double-check personal information already submitted via online forms by individuals.
If you would prefer not to receive any phone calls, including for clerical reasons, please mention this in the general message field. Submit No Contact by Phone.

How can I include my partner or spouse's name on my tax receipt for my online donation?
Our online giving system can only link one name to a record at one time. If you want your partner’s name added to your charitable tax receipt, please indicate your wishes in the message field when you donate.
The system automatically issues a tax receipt with a single name within 1-2 business days.
Allow an extra 1-2 business days to receive an updated receipt that includes both donor names.

TAX RECEIPTS
There is an error with my tax receipt. Who do I contact to fix it?
We are here to help you with any problems regarding your tax receipts. Please reach out by phone at (613) 696-7030 or email foundation@ottawaheart.ca with the date and amount of your gift. I made a gift by mail. When can I expect to receive my tax receipt?
Our team processes gifts as soon as they arrive by letter mail. Most tax receipts for donations received via mail are then prepared on Mondays and Tuesdays and then mailed by regular post. Donors can expect tax receipts to arrive within days, but delivery times vary depending on Canada Post service schedules.
I am a monthly donor. How and when will I receive my charitable tax receipt?
Depending on how your monthly gift was scheduled in our system, you may be receiving a monthly tax receipt in one of two ways:
- An email receipt for each gift;
- a consolidated tax receipt to be sent by the end of February in the following tax year.

I am missing tax receipt(s) for donations I made.
If you are missing tax receipts for gifts you have made to the Foundation, please contact our office at (613) 696-7030 or by email at foundation@ottawaheart.ca. Please have ready your donation date and donation amount given so we can assist you best. You can also complete the Contact Us Form below and we will respond within 1 – 2 business days.

How do I update my contact information?
Up to date contact information means you never miss a tax receipt or updates from the Foundation. We appreciate you taking the time to update your record with us. You can do so by contacting us either by phone at 613-696-7030 or by email at foundation@ottawaheart.ca and we will be happy to help you. Who can I speak with to remove myself from your mailing lists?
You can remove yourself from our mailings list any time. A family member has passed away and is still receiving mail from you. How do I update their records?
We are truly sorry for the loss of your loved one. Please contact our office at 613-696-7030 or by email at foundation@ottawaheart.ca and we will update your loved one’s record on file.
